Weather Policy

It is our policy to hold games and practices whenever it is safely possible to do so. Rain alone will not lead to cancellation of activities. For the safety of the players and spectators, activities will be cancelled for the following weather-related reasons:

  • National Weather Service Severe Weather Warnings: All activities will be cancelled/postponed during an active warning for our event location from the National Weather Service for severe weather (Tornados, Severe Thunderstorms, Hurricanes, etc.).
  • Lightning/Thunder: In the event of lightning/thunder, all activities will be halted immediately. Activities will not resume until at least 30 minutes after the last incidence of lightning or thunder.
  • Other Dangerous Weather Conditions: In the event there are weather conditions, such as hail, that may present a danger to players and spectators, all activities will be cancelled or postponed while the dangerous weather conditions are present.
  • Dangerous Field Conditions: If the fields are in a condition that presents a dangerous playing environment for players or where play may cause significant damage to the fields themselves, events will be cancelled or postponed for that day. This may occur on days of nice weather if precipitation has occurred on prior days. Always check the field status hotlines before showing up for practice or games if it has rained in the past couple days.

    The decision to cancel activities based on field conditions is made by two different organizations depending on the field location.

    Game and Practice Field Status Hotlines:

    990-3036:

    for ALL FIELDS EXCEPT Cedar Falls/Homestead Park & Scroggs Elementary. The message will be posted by 1:00 pm weekdays or after 7:30 am for Saturday games.

    685-8277:

    for Cedar Falls/Homestead Park & Scroggs Elementary. This decision will be made by Parks & Recreation (not Rainbow Soccer) and their message will be posted by 3:00 pm weekdays or after 8:15 am for Saturday games.

    ¿QUE PASA CON LOS ENTRENAMIENTOS O PARTIDOS CUANDO LLUEVE O LAS CANCHAS ESTAN MOJADAS? (¿Cómo averiguar si los entrenamientos o partidos tendrán lugar o han sido cancelados, cuando ha llovido?) Para todas las canchas excepto las de Cedar Falls/Homestead Park o Scroggs: llame al 990-3036 después de la 1:00 de la tarde. (está línea puede tomar 80 llamadas simultáneamente) o consulte el sitio Internet de rainbowsoccer.org. Cedar Falls/Homestead Park o Scroggs: llame al 685-8277 después de las 3:00 de la tarde.
